The power of the Word of God is able to transform us from walking in darkness to becoming children whose lives reflect the light that shines on and through us. With the Light of Christ, we walk in light and don't stumble and grope around in the darkness of the world. Saving Grace does not call for His children to live on the margin of Christianity but to come fully into what He has provided for His own.
Sometimes we want to and unknowingly continue maintaining our own way of doing things, even after confessing Jesus Christ as Lord, Savior and Master. We may have been made to feel that the only right way is the way we do things and the way we think about things. Sometimes we are not open to corrective criticism or we stubbornly refuse to take an honest look at who we are. We can also neglect asking GOD to examine us closely and show us where we can and should improve. We may have been shaped in our childhood to believe that we should be catered to, or we may have been ignored, or we may have just developed a stubborn streak on our own. When we grow up without correction, we can inwardly resent any and all expressed disapproval of our conduct or methods of dealing with a situation. The Bible clearly states in II Timothy 3:16: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:". It goes without saying that a selfish/self-righteous attitude is not appropriate behavior for one who professes to be a Christian. If we see ourselves as justifiably selfish and self-righteous, then without a chisel or a mallet, we have erected an idol called "self" which will not bend or be corrected thereby limiting the possibility of growing in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (II Peter 3:17).
Christianity is more than just hanging on the fringe, but rather making a full surrender of self and according to Romans 13:14: But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof." This is possible and provided for by the Power of the Word of God. The inner man/woman can be strengthened to walk, to talk and to think as children of the light that Jesus has His children to be.
I pray that you will go forth this week with loyalty and love for the God of Israel, through his son Jesus the Christ, in your hearts!
